Finally - new machine in place and I can compile

It took me a while to set things up, especially the development environment. But today I finally were able to put it all together and was able to compile the project again. Needless to say my new XPS is a much nicer tool compared to a 2-3 years old laptop (although there was nothing wrong with it, it was a nice horsie:-).

You can actually see how it looks:

Hopefully new version will be coming soon (but don't hold your breath, things at work still hectic, and few things still have to be set up and configured).
Anyway - SE's back in business!

Wow! Two sponsors per day!

Thursday January 26 2005 marks a certain point in the product history.
Today, only a few weeks later after initial beta launch, Smugmug Explorer got not one, but two sponsors in one day!
Thank you, guys, I really appreciate your support! I can promise - you'll get your money back in a form of very cool features - and at a bargain price, which you have already paid:-)

More news

First of all: SE got another sponsor - thanks, Anthony!

Second: according to Dell order status page, my new Dell XPS has been shipped today, 4 days ahead of schedule. Which means it might arrive early next week, yay! And I already got a nice graphics card replacement (I ordered it with ATI X300 SE 128Mb, but now I'm going to replace it with Gigabyte nVIDIA GeForce 6600 PCX 256Mb - I know, it's not 6800 GT, but hey, it was a bargain at $150 shipped and delivered next day - newegg rulez!)

Finally: I'm not going to the NADA trade show! Kinda makes it easy on my schedule (I'll miss New Orleans, though, I LOVE this city)

That all been said, SE development lag may only last until the end of the next week, instead of mid-February. Of course I wanna make sure it's all "loaded", tested and configured properly first, so I don't have to waste my time on it later on. But after that - man, oh man, I'm gonna have fun! And you will notice it, too, I promise:-)

PS
By "fun" I don't mean finally being able to launch Doom3 and Half-Life2 sitting on a side of my desk...
On a second thought - well, that too:-). How else will I be able to test my new 5.1 audio set ;-)?

New email, new sponsor...

My hosting site finally fixed the email, so I can actually receive it:-)
And on top of that SE just got another sponsor - thank you Rhet! You won't regret it!

Trade Show interrupts the development

I must unwillingly announce there is going to be a gap in Smugmug Explorer development starting today, until appoximately the 7th of February 2005.
The company I work for (during the day:-) goes to the all-important annual trade show, and the wrokload and show schedule makes it physically impossible for me to do anything else besides my day job.
The good news is that when I back from the show I'll resume SE development on a brand new monster XPS desktop from Dell (will be shipped by the end of January).
I want to assure you all that this gap is only a "pause", and not at all a "stop". During this pause I will continue to be online most of the time. All your feedback will be "duly noted" and, hopefully, promptly responded to (there will be a few days around Feb 1st I'll be offline, however).
I also hope this pause - and your continuing feedback - will give me a chance to reiterate the priorities and come out with the implementation and the features that you actually need the most, rather than what I think you need the most:-)
Thank you for your interest in SE and your continuing - and growing - support!

Over 1000 hits - and a new sponsor!

Only 5 weeks after the initial product launch, the SE site crossed the barrier of the first 1,000 hits!
And it just got another sponsor - thank you, James!
...and counting:-)

Getting first references :-)

Baldy was kind enough to let me know this link at www.dpreview.com. I wonder if it has something to do with the number of hits:-)

100 hits in 2 hrs..

100 hits within 2 hours of the new version upload..
I'm getting seriously impressed - does it mean SE has 100 users already?
Thanks, guys! I appreciate the attention!

New version uploaded

  • Proxy support
  • EXIF/IPTC info
